A 9-year-old girl gains control amidst family chaos by striving for her hair's perfect parting and pigtails, becoming self-reliant despite emotional turmoil.

The story of the Dubrovnik landowner Nikša Prokulić, who fiercely opposes romance between his daughter Jela and the Czech officer Marek, member of the Austro-Hungarian army that occupied their city in 1814, after the departure of the French. The story of the final downfall of the Republic of Dubrovnik thus also becomes the story of the agony of an ancient aristocratic family.

Through intimate vignettes of vulnerability, tension, and fleeting joy, the film delves into the intricacies of navigating love when neither partner fully knows themselves. Intertwined with friendships and random occurrences the film offers up the conversation that love is not just bound to sexuality, identity and it can at it's core, be found through the soul.

Story follows a special day for a man and a woman who meet at the last moment in life.
